aa thank you so much omg! :3 :3 I’m not sure what the best way to do this is? But like, when i do quick studies and sketches and stuff, instead of doing that generic smooth-looking crosshatching i usually use to shade stuff, i like using a more form-following hatching along whichever is axis is the most visually relevant. Like, the hatching on the tail and around the spine and on the fronts of the wings of this shitbird:

I like it cause I usually have a hard time tryna get apparent form without relying on silhouette, but this lets me just like. Put silhouette’s everywhere lol :D SO yeah i think doing studies where i shade along the contours of my subject has for sure made me better at form, although probly only by teaching me this trick aha. I bet doing architectural studies would also help w this cause its kinda like drawing everything as architecture

Wow omg! Thank you so much! :3 :3 Uh, I’ve never really had to try to recall what I’m thinking about when I draw, so, I’m not sure sure? I feel like I usually imagine being cut up & turned into a robot lol, but i guess it depends what im working on. It might be obvious from my lack of activity but I dont like, actively study art anymore. I don’t think I ever have in a way that’s like, relevant to my actual art interests. Ive done portrait & figure studies, but not in a long time, and I’ve never done studies of mechanical stuff. I feel like my art journey was, like, I forced myself to study boring things that i couldnt get invested in, and eventually got completely burnt out & now i kinda hate art. Most of my skill comes from drawing lewd stuff & tryna make it in that scene, but like, I’m not really good enough at cute stuff or working quickly for that. I’ve accumulated some tricks that make drawing mechanical stuff easier for me, & its relevant to my interests, but it still usually feels like a chore. Ima answer your other ask here as well. When I think about art inspirations, everything I really hold as important & life changing is game dev stuff, which is cool cause like, i figured that out, and now i get to be super investing in what im making again. I love game dev! So much! Especially programming! Games make me feel emotion! Its great! :D Here’s stuff that’s had a big ol impact on me:
& my fav of the type of art youre talking about:
uh, this was a lot more pessimistic than i was planning but! uh! sorry!
An extremely cute girl was painting one of my dragons and I just have to share her art because HOLY SHIT
it was me! :3
